Chad: The process basically boils down to prismacolor markers and colored pencils, with a touch of acrylic paint for the white highlights. Some of the line work was done with a PITT brush pen.

dnwilliams: Yes, he's visually inspired by the actor Woody Strode, particularly from "Once Upon a Time in the West..". He's the coolest looking guy in that movie.
And yeah, definitely something weird going on with his eyes, but that may just be a red herring:)
